The Curator supervises acquisition, care, and management of collections at Gunston Hall. Successful candidate will have knowledge of American history, fine and decorative arts, accessioning procedures, and preventive conservation methods; ability to research, understand, and communicate information about eighteenth-century domestic life in Virginia to staff and visitors; skills needed to maintain and update orientation exhibits; awareness of operation of fire, security, and HVAC systems that may impact collections care. Curator oversees interpreters and volunteers, interacts with donors, lenders, and insurers or movers of historic objects; disseminates information about the site through publications and public presentations.
