Full-time Employment: Curator

The Curator supervises acquisition, care, and management of collections at Gunston Hall. Successful candidate will have knowledge of American history, fine and decorative arts, accessioning procedures, and preventive conservation methods; ability to research, understand, and communicate information about eighteenth-century domestic life in Virginia to staff and visitors; skills needed to maintain and update orientation exhibits; awareness of operation of fire, security, and HVAC systems that may impact collections care. Curator oversees interpreters and volunteers, interacts with donors, lenders, and insurers or movers of historic objects; disseminates information about the site through publications and public presentations. Masters preferred.
