Hot Water Urn and Cover

Urn with Cover

The popularity of hot water urns grew with the development of tea drinking as a social interaction.  Robert Sharp and Daniel Smith of London produced this silver hot water urn in 1767-1768.  This piece also has its original case, which is very rare.  The case is wrapped in tooled sheepskin leather with a small silver clasp.
